Violet Goldsmith Howard, 101, of Temperance, MI died Sunday, October 1, 2017, at her residence. Born April 22, 1916, in Bedford Twp., MI, she was the daughter of Frederick and Blanche (Lohner) Bridge. She married Robert S. Goldsmith on May 31, 1933. He preceded her in death on January 16, 1979. Violet then married Ralph Howard on August 30, 1985. He preceded her in death on April 28, 2001. She was a long-time employee of Bedford Public Schools, retiring as the head custodian at Smith Road Elementary School. Violet was the oldest and longest member of Bridgepoint Church (formerly First Baptist Church). She enjoyed feeding people, baking pies, spending time at the Bedford Senior Center, but most of all, spending time with her family.
She is survived by her loving son, Philip (Lynne) Goldsmith; daughter-in-law, Arla Goldsmith; step-daughter, Lois Jean (Earl) Kinney; 14 grandchildren; many great grandchildren and many great great grandchildren. Violet was also preceded in death by a son, Arnold Goldsmith, daughter, Violet Elaine Rank and 4 brothers, Leonard, Harold, Arnold and Robert Bridge.
Visitation will be from 5:00 – 6:00 pm, Thursday, October 5, 2017, at the Michael W. Pawlak Funeral Home, 1640 Smith Rd. (at Jackman) Temperance, MI, where a memorial service will follow at 6:00 pm. Pastor Earl Kinney, officiating.
